Radio is actually my fifth career! I started as a travel agent—booking music groups promotional tours. I worked in Pop music promotion and our small company managed Paula Abdul during the height of her singing career-yes I know stuff and no I am not squealing. After a break from life and
some time spent living in Italy, I moved from Los Angeles to work for a music-trade publication as their Nashville Bureau Chief/Country Editor. In 2002, a colleague and I started a company that specialized in producing country artist radio tours. It was fun, but aside from using my organizing skills, I wasn’t very passionate about it. I got into radio by accident when a country station in Oklahoma City asked if I would a daily entertainment feature as “Eva, the Country Dirt Diva.” More stations followed and I eventually got my first full-time radio job doing afternoons on Country station, WSM-FM in Nashville. I got “un landlocked” in 2005 when I came to the Coast!
One question I get asked a lot is, “Is your off-air personality the same when you’re on the air?” Well yes I am. Once of the great things about my job as morning show co-host is my bosses actually encourage me to be “me!” Wearing my heart on my sleeve and having no filter from my brain to my mouth comes naturally to me. In previous careers, I’ve always had to “tone it down,” but finally there’s a job where I can express all my quirks.
Tim is….my work soul mate. He is the perfect compliment to my wackiness. He sets me up and I never fail to walk right into the trap. Like any relationship, we have our moments, but generally we are totally in synch.
