Secret Superpowers: Producing audio, bartending, looking surprisingly good in spandex bicycle shorts (Not that I’d wear them to a wedding or anything.)
Three Things I Wouldn’t Want To Live Without: My bicycle, my job, and the feeling that I’m always moving toward some goal. Cheesy, but true.
High points so far: Driving every fantasy car as a valet in college. Meeting Peter Wolf and J. Geils. Working on-air in Boston. Moving to Portland. Getting hired full-time at the Portland Radio Group. Buying my own place. Celebrating my birthday with friends in Rome.
My Story: After sixteen years spent growing up in the wilds of Southern New England, I figured I’d try this radio thing. A couple years later I made the move to Boston to major in radio at Emerson College. After graduation (and a full year of hunting for a radio job) I made the move to Portland for one six-hour overnight shift a week. I stuck with it – found a place to live, found a job, started building my life around that one shift – and made it to full-time on-air three years later. Four-plus years after that, I’m still here and still feeling lucky to work with the people I do. Radio is weird…Most of the people I work with, myself included, can’t imagine doing anything else for a living. Sitting at a desk? Not for me. Writing reports? Sorry. Sitting in a soundproof room playing music on the radio for hours at a time? Now that’s more my speed.
